about

They play raw ‘n’ atonal freaked ‘n’ f**ked-up heads-down wig-flipped beatnik-boogie brew. Imagine Sonic Youth wrestling The Banana spilts – its fun fuzz! The sound is like something cooked up by a shit-faced coming together of Hawkwind, MC5 and The Butholes. A primitive wah-wah effects-laden sonic flashback liberally festooned with all manner of tripping-psyche-induced-beatnik-boogie.

“Bad Acid’ is your sumptuously shimmering sub three minute slice of shade-wearing two chord goo, that in its ridiculously brief passage of time manages to nod towards classic era Detroit garage and the flamboyance of glam T-Rex, and yet somehow cleverly shoehorns between them elements of late 60’s white-out-psych tastily dusted and scratched by some neat slabs of primal mid 60’s beat groove. Did we also mention it’s a bit horny – well it is in a kind of wasted ‘kool thing’ era Sonic Youth face-off with Mudhoney type way. Essential in case you were wondering.”
LOSING TODAY

"This is straight up pure and honest retro-psych-freakbeat-garage rock and its really bloody good. have noticed a whiff lately of a bunch of east London garage bands on the rise. Not sure it amounts to a full on revival, but for my ears Brain washington are far and away the pick of the bunch."
Twobobs - Facebook review

"Brain Washington Live at The Miller, London 17.04.10 “If Dastardly and Mutley formed a band, they might well be Brain Washington, who kick off tonight’s revue of cinematic/psychedlic acts wearing t-shirts that read ‘I LOVE ACID’. The band are pure B-movie rock and roll, dressed in ABBA-style white suits. The music is pre-punk but with elements of The Stooges, zooming along like a car chase from a ’70s cop show. What’s not to like? “"
